The Dare to Diva & Digital Mechanic Enchanter Poetry Music Video Launch Event, was a stunning success and culminated, with the special surprise public announcement (made exclusively to the full house in Screen 2 of Phoenix Cinema) of Carol Leeming’s debut  Poetry Book titled The Declamations of Cool Eye published by Dare to Diva Productions. Also that copies would be  available to buy immediately after the screening in the Foyer. After the launch, the video is now scheduled to be released onto social media platforms e.g youtube etc.

Firstly, the diverse audience were welcomed by  impressive  artist, academic, arts pioneer and published poet Funmi Adewole, the  programme continued with excellent live music performances, sublime Saxophone by Marcus Joseph and entrancing Hang Drum by Carise Z.  The audience were then ready, for an introduction to the video by Carol Leeming the Writer Director Dare to Diva, and Rob Gurney Director of Photography of Digital Mechanic, as to how their creative partnership began and the making of the video. As well as Carol introducing members of the film crew in the audience. Carol’s fellow members of Seven Five film organization, based at the Phoenix Cinema, these were Dawn Rose Continuity & Wardrobe,  Ketna Butron Make Up and Jon Ellison Camera Lighting Assistant.

During the screening of the Enchanter video, featuring Carol Leeming performing the song Habibi written by Carol, with long standing musical partner Neil Hunter, with music played  and recorded by Paddy Hodgkinson and Stan Samuel recording studio.  Later in the video there  followed a performance of Carol’s poem Drawing, a poem included in the new debut poetry collection.

Throughout the screening the audience was rapt, afterwards they applauded enthusiastically, a lively Q & A and comments session followed, ably chaired by Funmi Adewole. Many in the audience found the poetry  music and images, combined in the video ‘mesmerizing and ‘thought provoking’ and expressed a strong desire to see it again, as ‘it had many layers’  others pointed to its ‘culturally diversity’ and being ‘shamanic’. Both Carol and Rob were warmly congratulated by the audience members and by the Chair. Subsequently in the  foyer a queue formed and  all copies of the new  book sold out very quickly.

Carol will be at the World Mental Health Day, Monday 10th October 2016 9.30-5pm  at the African Caribbean Centre, at a Book Stall available for signings of her new  poetry book.

Exclusive Arts Launch Event With Artist Carol Leeming FRSA of Dare to Diva

This month, Sunday September 25th 2016, Leicester’s international acclaimed multi-artist artist, and recognised polymath, working in literature performing arts & digital media, Carol Leeming of Dare to Diva, along with a digital creative making waves, in the local creative scene, Rob Gurney of Digital of Mechanic, have teamed up to present Enchanter a brief poetry music video, the launch being later this month, on the big screen at Phoenix Cinema Leicester.

Event Host and Chair for the Q & A session will be Funmi Adewole. Funmi is a published poet, has worked independently in the Arts for over two decades. She also has a performance, media and education background and has worked as a co-ordinator and project manager on various arts and education initiatives. She holds an M.A in Postcolonial Studies and is a professional graduate certificate in Education. Funmi is completing a historical and theoretical thesis focusing, on theatrical dance by black choreographers in Britain between the years of 1985 and 2005.

Performing live at the event are local musicians Marcus Joseph on Saxophone and Carise Zangerle Murray on Hang Drum (part of Mythm duo with Jenny HibWord House of Verse). Carol, will also be making a very important a special exclusive surprise announcement are this rare exclusive event…so not to be missed!!!

Carol Leeming is famous for music making worldwide, for enthralling vocal and poetry performances, This event therefore is rare opportunity, to find out more about this intriguing artist, and her chosen creative partner Rob Gurney, as to how this video was made, and be the very first to watch, this specially produced poetry video by Carol Leeming and much more….
